No Longer A Puppy

Zoee turned 1 on June 10. I can't believe our little pup is growing so fast. haha.

As I have mentioned before, I am not too keen on animals. Just ask anyone who really knows me at all. My soul was not meant for them, nor theirs for me. As a baby I used to scream whenever I went near one. And, while I tolerate Zoee quite well, and even like her a little (because she is a very good puppy, well behaved and sweet) she and I both know that there will never be a strong tie between us. Not like there is between her and Cody.

I hope none of you out there think I am too heartless. I'm just telling the truth.

Anyway, with all that in mind, a weird phenomena has happened for the past few weeks. This lover of Cody ONLY, who follows him like...well...a puppy dog, and disobeys my every command has flipped. She now follows ME everywhere.

For example, last night I was pacing the house trying to help along some weak contractions, and she was 2 feet behind me the whole time. Where I go, she wants to be...even the bathroom. And I haven't changed in the way I treat her one bit, she just changed. Its weird. She has even started hiding in her cage from Cody when she knows he is trying to get her to leave ME at home.

Isn't that just insane? Or am I just out of the animal behavior loop? I think she knows something BIG is going on, I'm not sure to what extent, but her loyalty and concern for me make me wish I loved animals more. They have such interesting and unique personalities. Its kind of exciting to get to know.

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZOEE!

4 days until my due date...still no baby.

We have tried everything (minus Castor Oil because that's just nasty), but I still don't think he is even close to getting here.

The doctor said he would be very surprised if I made it to my induction date (the Friday after), but I think he was just trying to make me feel better.

P.S. We still haven't settled on a name. We had one for a while there, but then changed our minds as of late. ANY IDEAS???

The BIG 2-5

I love my birthday. Cody loves me. It made for a good combination.
He had the whole day planned, ready and waiting to surprise me.

First we went to breakfast at One Man Band, a personal favorite of ours.

Then we headed to a spa in Midway for a couples massage.

After that we stopped and got my favorite treat...
an Avalanche (its a snow cone with ice cream)

Next we made our way to pick up my presents.

The first stop was Runner's Corner to find the perfect pair of running shoes.
Then to Grey Whale to get a CD I've been missing (YES, I like Alanis).

By this time we were starving, so we met my mom for an early dinner.
She treated us to Chili's.

Then, after a quick trip to visit my sister, we ended the day at the movie theater. We ate yummy treats and watched Angels and Demons.

All and all, it was an INCREDIBLE day.
Thanks Cody, you're the BEST!

p.s. I hope you all enjoyed my hugeness...and the fact that I didn't do my hair or make-up. Only a few more days...

Another Pictureless Update

As I sat here eating a bowl of Marshmellow Maties listening to "Come On Get Higher" and surfing internet waves I decided it was about time to give a little update of our doings.

For the past 3 weekends we have had births and birthdays in the family, which means that Cody's side of the family has made the 3 hour trek to our house about a million times. Welcome to the world Kate and Avery.

The last of their trips was last weekend for memorial day. I felt like we went non-stop from party to party, but the weekend ended with an awesome bond fire in a beautiful place called Hidden Valley overlooking Utah County. We, along with Chris, Holly, their kids (including the newest addition Avery), Tyler, Chantelle, Riley, Caleb, Hayley, Travis, and Brynlee enjoyed hot dogs, s'mores, and starbursts.

The next part of our adventure has to do with my side of the family. My mom had to evict some people from one of her houses (that's what happens when you don't pay rent for 7 months). After they packed up and moved we discovered that they had left boxes and BOXES of all kinds of crafts. I called my sisters to see if they wanted some and that is when Holly (my sister) got the bright idea for us to take ALL of the crafts and sell them. So yesterday we woke up at the crack of dawn and I had my very first yard sale. We ended up making a little over $180 (plus another $140 from Kim's stuff). Which I don't think is all that bad. We will be using the money to buy some cool stuff for Lake Powell this summer. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO!

Besides that, I am still pregnant and getting more and more uncomfortable. But, I guess I can't complain as long as the little guy is healthy and happy. I have my 39 week check-up in a few days. As of the last one I was dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced. At least I am progressing a little. That's promising, right?

Then, last but not least, tomorrow I make the jump from 24 to 25. I can't believe I'll be that old. I LOVE my birthday. I am excited for all that it promises...even if I already went out and bought my own present. I just can't get away from certain stores when they have a good sale...

That's it for now.

Why Boys Need Parents

I got a forward the other day entitled "Why Boys Need Parents" and this picture made me laugh out loud. Hopefully no one out there is offended or anything.

What makes it even funnier is that right after looking at that email at work, I came home to a blow gun war between Cody and his brother Travis. Darts were flying all over the place and every few seconds you would hear one of them bust up laughing.

I can't wait for our little boy...3 more weeks...

To Cody

I am a firm believer that if you have something nice to say to/about someone, especially a loved one, you should just tell them to their face as opposed to announcing it in a public venue, such as over a pulpit in church or a blog on the Internet. It just means more that way. I could go into detail as to why, but I'll just leave it at that.

I, however, am going to break away from my own opinion to let all of you readers out there know what a great man I have by my side. And yes, I am talking about Cody. (haha)

He has been quite a trooper throughout these last few months of my insanity; always there to rub my back and feet or tell me how beautiful I am when I really look like the most hideous being on planet earth.

He has even let me get away with a lot of dirty dishes, dirty laundry, dirty floors, etc. that I don't manage to get to like I should. And, if you know Cody at all, that is a huge accomplishment. He is probably the neatest, tidiest person I have ever known...which I appreciate, but fall very short of.

On top of all of his goodness towards me, which I could continue to talk about, he has been more than willing to help everyone else out in their time of need; whether it be a sibling, parent, niece, mother-in-law, friend, ward member, or an acquaintance. He even volunteered to help out on the church farm. He is all about what's fair.

All in all, Cody is the most awesome guy out there, and I thank him for it.

I took this picture on my phone almost a year ago, but I love the expression on his face. It makes me laugh. He is just so dang cute.

P.S. only 6 or so weeks until little Jr. Hoppy arrives...

8 more weeks (give or take a few) until we get to use this stuff...

We are SO excited!!!

Some Thoughts About Baby

A few days ago Cody cleared out the room for our new little baby. Since then we have added a rocking chair (and are awaiting our crib, changing table, and bedding set to come in the mail). It is all sort of surreal.

Sometimes we like to squish into the rocker together and just bask in the new adventure that is coming for us.

What will he be like? Will we be good parents? What if he grows up to hate us? Will he be healthy? Will he be happy? Will we have everything we need? Will I even be able to make it through this whole pregnancy? How will we afford everything?

It is kind of daunting when you really think about it, but at the same time we just can't wait.

I have heard that you'll never understand how much you can actually love a person until you hold one of your own children for the first time.

I am excited to know that feeling.

Sometimes at night in my dreams or in the very back of my minds eye, I get a glimpse of that love. It is accompanied by fear for him and anticipation. I am sure you parents out there understand better than Cody or me, but I love each small opportunity I am given to become just a little closer to our new little guy.

Anyway, thats whats new with us.

P.S. We THINK we have his name picked out...it took a lot for us to get that far.

Picture - 29 Weeks

Several people have asked me to put up a pregnancy picture. Out of embarrassment and horror over my hideous body I ignored them, but I can ignore them no longer. So, here you go.

It was taken about 1 minute ago by my coworker Whitney...thats about as up-to-date as you get.

Don't bother reading this dumb post.

This Post is for matt. For obvious reasons.(because he requested a post by me and now everyone else has to suffer the consequences. If you wanna leave him threatening messages click on the link to the right under matt and reagan)(Reagan is nice though. Be nice to her.)
Anyway. I swore off the razor for awhile after our cruise. a first for me. Turns out, I'm one ugly guy and I have a curly beard so the hairs curve around and poke my sensitive face. But I knew Matt would appreciate it. And I love him, so.....

More Pregnancy Lessons

I am currently in my 27 week. Here are a few more pregnancy lessons I have learned...

1. They tell you that babies just grow in your stomach. That is a lie. They also grow in your bum and thighs.
2. When Cody talks to my belly, the baby will start wiggling around.
3. It is still creepy every time he moves...especially now that his movements are the slow, defined ones that stick out of my belly for everyone else in the room to see and gawk at.
4. It is very uncomfortable when he kicks my ribs or my pelvic bone.
5. It is VERY hard to come up with a name for someone else that won't get them beat up, made fun of, ostracized, or unfairly labeled.
6. I get winded just walking up the stairs.
7. When I get sick, I GET SICK. Diseases stay longer and hit harder.
8. Sleeping on my side after always being a back or stomach sleeper is nearly impossible. My hips cramp and I start to get raging mad at about 3 a.m...pillows between the legs DO NOT HELP.
9. Every time I stand up, I have to pee.
10. Every time I squat down or bend over, I do pee.
11. I get leg cramps at night that make me want to throw myself off of a cliff.
12. Cody has to cut my toes nails for me, and he does it very willingly.
13. Putting on socks and shoes is very tricky.
14. Your body oozes...those of you who have been there know exactly what I am talking about. Until then, just know that it isn't pleasant.
15. Every time I hear his little heart beat or actually ponder on the fact that I have A REAL LIVE BABY BOY INSIDE ME, I get a rush of emotions that range from panic to excitement.

I still can't believe this is happening to us.

Until next time...
