Yesterday all of the Hoppy brothers came over to choreograph a dance for Jake's wedding (They danced at our wedding too and it was awesome).

While they were there Caleb asked me why we go on so many vacations. A quote from my longtime friend and inspiration came to mind (I may have mentioned it before), "The world is your playground."

I love her philosophy and I often remind myself of it. The world, each land mass and each body of water, is here for us to enjoy. I want to look back at my life when I'm dead and know that I did as much as I could, in every way that I could...the good stuff that is...

Three-Legged Sea Monkey

So...I don't usually have a lot to say so whenever the big life events come around Hanna graciously lets me be the bearer of exciting news. We've been getting these updates online that show you a 3D image of what your spawn could potentially look like. Not going to lie, not something that gets me too pumped. The first couple make it look like you're having a tadpole or gecko or something, who wants one of those?
Luckily, over time it starts to look more like a sea monkey, therefore, that's what I call it. But today we had the famous ultra sound and everything looks great and the baby is healthy. Sea monkey didn't like all the poking and prodding though cuz it was moving all over the place and we couldn't get great shots for too long, but then the "ultrasound technician" proclaimed, "there it is, it's DEFINATELY A BOY!!!" And yes, there was an emphasis on DEFINATELY...you know what that means.
Our little sea monkey is gonna be a real boy. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time. My cheeks started to hurt. We're super stoked.
The Ultra sound was a great experience overall and made it all a whole lot more real. They even do a 3D picture that looks like a butter sculpture of your baby.
Who knew that this could be so fun?

The Contest

Okay...so I am really excited about this...

A few months ago I was invited to a group on facebook by a girl named Reagan Ogle. I like her so I accepted. I'm pretty sure she invited me because it was a school project for her friend. Anyway, through the facebook group I came across a writing contest. I figured: I'm a writer, I'm bored at work, I'll enter it.

A few days ago, after the contest was long forgotten, I got an email saying I WON! I was very surprised and proud of myself. I haven't won a writing contest since Reflections in elementary. The prize was a 2 night stay at the Zermatt Resort in Midway. That made it even more exciting because that is where Cody and I went for our weekend honeymoon. We even got coupons for massages, breakfasts, and dinners.

Anyway, I hope this isn't coming across as arrogant, I was just really excited for it. Nothing beats a free vacation...right?

What Do You Think?

Mondays are my day off and I always have the good intention of writing something on my blog, but lately I have felt very uninspired.

However, today a discussion I had with a friend at work came to mind and I wondered your opinion on the matter...seriously, tell me.

Here goes...during this discussion we chatted about Ex's. You know, the 'dreaded' ex-boyfriend and/or girlfriend of yourself or your current partner.

The discussion lead to the questions of:

1. whether or not it is appropriate to tell your current love, or to have them tell you, that they are forbidden to speak or have contact with the ex.

2. whether or not it is appropriate to continue contact with an ex when you have no real reason to...no real reason meaning that you have no kids together, you have no family connection, you, they, or both of you are married and live separate lives, etc.

What do you think? I wont put my bias on any question just yet. I do, however, have them.

One more thing...

I stole these from Facebook. Cody's Nativity and the traditional family PJs.

The Holidays

Well, I have seen and read a lot of Christmas and New Years posts. Everyone has such great pictures. I, unfortunately, always have the want to take pictures and never the initiative. The definition of lazy.

Christmas Eve:

Every Christmas Eve my family gets together and we eat, sing, and act out the Nativity...well, the kids act out the Nativity. My mom decided to do a Mexican theme, for the food, not the play, and it was awesome. Some lady down the street even made tamales, my favorite. Cody was put in charge of directing the play this year. He did a great job with the kids, they all really love him...maybe even more than they love me...hmmm. After that, to add to the Mexican theme, we had a pinata. Then it was present time. This year we decided that we would make gifts instead of buy them. Cody and I both drew the names of one of my brothers and decided that we would crochet them beanies. I hadn't crocheted since I was 8, so Cody had to teach me. He is actually really good at it. They turned out great, at least I thought they did :)

After the party was over, we headed home to meet up with Cody's side. They all stayed at our house this year and it was a lot of fun.

Christmas:

We woke up at a fairly decent hour and went down and opened all of our presents. Then my mom came over and made pancakes, while Joe (father in law) made his famous, at least to me, hash browns and eggs. That took up a good 2 or 3 hours. Pretty soon the rest of the gang showed up, which meant more presents and more food. By this time we started getting the feast ready for dinner, put in a movie, and even had time to play some games that Hayley (Cody's brother Caleb's girlfriend) had taught us a few days earlier on our date night. I loved having everyone over. I love all of the people, fun, and even all the noise. It just makes everything feel even more like Christmas. After the day was over, we gathered around while Christie (mother in law) read a book about Christ and I read the story from the bible, then we had a small testimony meeting. It was the perfect way to end the holiday.

Here are the only pictures I have...

On the 27 Christmas continuted with Clarke (father in law). We all went out to eat at Macaroni Grill. The food was great, but the company was even better. Cody, his dad, and his 3 brothers just have this crazy bond that is rare to come by. They laugh so much. After dinner, Cody and I watched the movie 7 pounds. We spent the first half just trying to figure out what was going on, but we liked it.

New Years Eve:

My friend, and now neighbor (kind of), Celina was throwing a surprise party for her husband on New Years Eve. It was really fun, mainly because Cody and I got our first shot at playing Bunko and Rock Band. I actually won a prize for the most Bunkos. Well, I tied for it and the other guy let me keep the gift. Thanks Vaughn. A bunch of our friends were there, so it made the night even better. We played right up until midnight, then turned the channel just in time to see the ball drop in New York, we all got our own "glass" cup full of sparkling cider and cheered into the new year. I am excited for what is to come, and a little scared.

Forever In Blue Jeans

Last night Cody and I had the one in a lifetime expereince of watching Neil Diamnod live at the Delta Center. My mom took us. We were on the floor, row 12, front and center. It was incredible.

I must say that the best part of all was seeing all of the older women freak out when he first came on stage.

Cody, my mom, and I danced the night away, yelling all the words to almost all of the songs. What can I say, I grew up listening to him. His voice feels like home.

We weren't allowed to have a camera, but Cody got some pictures and videos on his phone. I'll have to post them later.

Until then, feel jealous...very very jealous. haha.

Worst Date Tag

Well, Jenn tagged me with the "worst date ever" tag.

The first story that came to mind, however, wasn't exactly MY date, but it was MY fault. So, I was set up on a date by my aunt/cousin Bobata. When the guy called me to figure out a date and time, I told him that I would be more comfortable if it were a double date and I brought a friend. He said that he would find a friend as well and we set it all up.

The night came and both guys stopped by my apartment to pick us up. They were cute, so it was a plus. We went to dinner, they paid of course, then went to one of their houses to watch a movie. During the middle of the movie my friend's date got up and left. We figured he was going to the bathroom or something. He didn't come back for the longest time, and when he finally did he had another girl with him. haha. So the five of us finished the movie. I didn't know what to make of it. Pretty soon my friend's date left with the other girl, and my date drove us home.

Seriously, I still don't know what they were thinking. Sorry Kendal.

Oh, I just remembered one more. I had been dating a guy for a little while, like 2 or 3 months, and we went to a movie. As we walked past the concessions stand I asked if we could get some milk duds, it was a movie tradition of mine and I love them. This is what he said to me:

"Hanna, if you knew you wanted a treat you should have told me before we got to the theater. The stuff here is too expensive."

Then we walked into the movie.

I was so bothered by it. I stopped hanging out with him. Who knows, maybe I'm just a brat and what he said was totally normal.

I tag...whoever...

Finally Finished

I just finished my last final. So (hoping that I passed all of my classes) I'M DONE! FOREVER! okay, at least for the time being. One day, in the distant future, I would like to go on and do more.

Cody finishes tomorrow morning.

What a glorious feeling.

To add to it, we finally put our Christmas tree up and decorated the house a little. It is our first "married" Christmas and I am REALLY EXCITED for it. I love the holidays, they just make a person feel great.

Anyway, that is the update for now.

There Is Always Room For Firsts

I had two firsts this weekend.

1. I shot a handgun.

I am scared to death of guns, but Cody insists that knowledge is better than fear. I completely agree. My insides trembled every time I pulled the trigger. I had to keep reminding myself, "This is good for me."

2. I watched the movie 'Willow.'

I have heard about this movie for years. I have even quoted lines from it, just because other people always did. Then, this weekend I finally got the incredible opportunity of viewing it first hand. It was great.
